Covid Questionnaire
The BIOSCAN BIOS01 is a high precision non-contact temperature screening device that is designed to screen body temperature from the forehead region one person at a time. A user will walk up to the unit and is directed by the application to face the unit at a specific position. The unit then takes the temperature reading from the forehead area and alerts when it detects an elevated temperature. The BIOS01 uses a German-made Heimann 32x32 thermopile sensor array that delivers accuracy temperature readings, +-0.5C / 0.9F, at a range of 1-3 feet and supports a temperature adjusting field to compensate for temperature variations. The temperuatre scan time is less than 1 second. The whole process for taking the temperature scan for the person is less than 15 seconds.
The unit is perfect for office buildings, factories, hospitals, educational institutions, and any institution where there is a need to automate temperature screening of staff or customers as they enter the facility. The unit supports various mounting options including on a pedestal stand, desk stand and wall mount. Network connectivity interfaces include Ethernet LAN and WIFI. The BIOS01 has been deployed in several large fortune 1000 companies including RR Donnely, US Navy, US Army and several hospitals.
The BIOS01 temperature scanner has been purpose built with new updated software for temperature scanning, mask detection and user authentication using facial recognition and/or traditional HID Access Card based authentication. Using this system, HR managers and security managers can implement measures to maintain workplace safety by regularly monitoring employees and staff for any signs of Covid-19 or virus infections, ensuring that staff wear masks and prevent or mitage the spread of the virus. In addition, if any employee is tested positive, they can use the reporting system to examine the logs of scan times and initiate contact tracking.
Key Features:
AI based facial recognition for user identification
BIOS01 supports dual binocular high-resolution cameras that perform fast and accurate facial recognition. You can recognize employees, visitors and strangers and accordingly define policies that work for your institution. The system supports up to 30,000 faces on the tablet or unlimited faces on the central server.
HID Proximity Card based user identification
BIOS01 supports built-in 125KHz HID Proximity Card reader that allows you to use your HID Prox II cards (26 bits to 34 bits) for user identification. For organizations not wanting to use facial recognition for privacy reasons, the card based authentication allows them to leverage their existing card access systems to identify their employees and take the temperature scans.
Email Alerts/ Notifications
BIOS01 can send email alerts when it detects that a person has elevated body temperature. You can either use a cloud based smtp email server or integrate with your existing corporate smtp server to send email notifications.
Covid-19 Health Questionanire support
BIOS01 supports touchscreen for users to view and answer Covid-19 questionnaire. Using the Questionnaire creating tool, companies can customize questionnaires and record the entries.
IR Thermal Body Temperature scanner for accurate measurement
BIOS01 German-made Heimann sensor is accurate to accuracy of +/- 0.5C (0.9F) at a range of 1-3 feet. Using facial detection technology, the thermal sensor takes readings from the forehead area.
Attendance Management
The unit supports attendance management capability where employee and staff can log their clock in and clock out times. All the times are logged along with the temperature record in the backend database for reporting & analysis. Facial recognition or NFC card is used to identify the person.
Integration with door or turnstile gates for automated access
The device supports multiple interfaces such as Weigand, serial, USB and ethernet for integration and control of turnstile gates and doors.
Cloud based management
The device can be fully managed by both public or private cloud. The Remote Management System provides administration and monitoring capabilities for devices that are deployed in the facility. The Application can be deployed in a public cloud or on a server hosted on the local network.
POE Support
The BIOS01 also supports optional POE support. With this feature, you can power up the unit and also connect to the network using RJ45/CAT5 cable. This simplifies deployment and reduces installation costs.
The BIOS01 uses an AI-based face detection technology to identify the face of a person in its field of view and take an IR thermal scan from the forehead region to determine if the person has elevated skin temperature. The device then generates both audio and visual alert that notify staff when the temperature threshold is exceeded. Upon detecting an alert, the system can also send an email notification to a designated mailbox or to a person. The AI based technology is smart enough to detect if the person is wearing a mask or not and accordingy generate an alarm.
The BIOS01 also supports user identification via HID Prox access cards. With the optional built-in HID card reader, the device can read HID Proximity cards that are commonly issued by most companies. In addition to the optional built-in reader, the device can integrate with any other external card readers that support Weigand interface. The use of HID Prox cards allows you to easily leverage your existing card based access control mechanism to identify your employees instead of facial recognition technology.
When the temperature of a person is normal and the person is authenticated either through facial recognition or via the access card, the device can trigger a signal to the door access control system to grant entry to the facility.
The BIOS01 is available in two configurations depending on your specific use case and size of the organization.
i. The SMB (small medium business) model. This configuration is geared for small businesses that would want to deploy as a standalone unit that fits Use Case A or simple network based management using your web browser. With simple installation and minimal configuration, out-of-the-box the device is ready to take temperature scans of staff and customers. The device management app on the device allows users to modify settings, view logs and export logs via exce. The SMB model uses our custom built software ACS that has been designed for simiplicity of use by HR managers, facility managers or office managers.
ii. The Enterprise model The Enterprise model configuration is suited for large businesses or enterprises that have several sites where the devices need to be deployed. Each site may have a need for one or several devices at multiple entry points. Because of the scale of deployment, these devices are connected to the network and managed remotely via the Remote Management Software. The Remote Management capability allows a security or facilities manager to centrally configure the devices, monitor events on the devices and receive alert notifications via email.
The Enterprise model uses our custom built Face Recognition APK and web based remote management software.

Use cases
a) Standalone single person temperature scan.
In this case, a person can be directed to the unit to scan temperature only. A temperature alert is generated on the unit with an audible alarm when elevated body temperature is detected. There is no need to connect to the network for this use case unless an email is desired.
b) Standalone single person temperature scan with face recognition to identify employees/staff or visitors. In this case, facial recognition can identify the user as a registered employee or as a visitor. In addition, you can also record, and store temperature measurements taken for each person in the database for further analysis. Network connectivity to the back end Remote Management System is required.
c) Standalone single person temperature scan with HID Prox Card scanning to identify employees/staff or visitors.
This use case is applicable for those customers who prefer to use their existing company issued HID Proximity cards to identify the user as a registered employee or as a visitor. In this case, the user will present the card on the device which will scan the card to obtain the card id and identify the user.
d) Integration withAccess control systsems for automated access. You can deploy the unit so users with elevated skin temperatures are locked out from entry to facility. The device supports Integration with turnstile or doors via Weigand, RS485, ethernet interfaces.
