COVID 19 has disrupted our lives and economy leaving us wondering if life will ever return to normal. People spaces like offices, houses of worship, stores, factories, schools, theaters, sports stadiums, and restaurants have been shut down in order to maintain social distancing and limit the spread of the virus but we are seeing that once we loosen restrictions the virus returns.
As businesses and institutions struggle to remain open, their first priority must be to protect the health safety of employees and customers. Government reopening guidelines include screening people for elevated temperature, wearing a face mask, hand sanitizing, and maintaining social distancing.
After months of lockdowns and restrictions Coronavirus ebbs and flows through humanity. It's becoming clearer that we have to learn how to live with it. Even with vaccines, we may not be able to drop our guard because the Coronavirus may become seasonal like the flu. Yes, we will have therapeutics and eventually vaccines but we also need to develop health safey processes and procedures to guard against infectious diseases of all types. Technology can help by screening people for elevated temperature and detecting face masks.
A health safety plan might include a health check station that scans people for elevated temperature, scans for face mask (face mask wearing in your facility should be mandatory), rpovides a face mask for those not wearing one, and provides a hand sanitizer dispenser.
Bioscan technologies offers non-contact elevated skin temperature scanning and mask detection systems for use in access control security systems and public entry pre-scanning systems combining facial recognition and detection, card access entry, and skin temperature scanning to safeguard the health and wellbeing of employees, visitors, and customers.
Disclaimer: Please note the thermal cameras and infrared devices listed here are for elevated skin temperature screening only. They do not detect COVID 19 or any pathogens nor can they identify virus carriers such as asymptotic people who do not exhibit any symptoms.
These devices are not clinical-grade, FDA approved thermometers. They are to be be used for initial fast screening of people for elevated skin temperatures, one person at a time.
Skin temperature measurement from these devices should not be solely or primarily relied upon to diagnose or exclude a diagnosis of disease.
Elevated skin temperature as detected by these devices must be confirmed with a secondary noncontact infrared thermometer (NCIT) or FDA approved clinical-grade contact thermometer.
Our BIOSCAN BIOS01 is a non-contact temperature screening and mask detection system designed to automatically and quickly scan the temperature of a person one at a time and alert you when the person has elevated body temperature or when the person is not wearing a mask. The unit has been deployed in several large fortune 1000 companies including RR Donnely, US Navy, US Army and several several hospitals.
The BIOS01 uses an AI-based face detection technology to identify the face of a person in its field of view and take an IR thermal scan from the forehead region to determine if the person has elevated skin temperature. The device then generates both audio and visual alert that notify staff when the temperature threshold is exceeded. Upon detecting an alert, the system can also send an email notification to a designated mailbox or to a person. The AI based technology is smart enough to detect if the person is wearing a mask or not and accordingy generate an alarm.
The BIOS01 supports integrated temperature scan and facial authentication based access control capability. The device uses advanced facial recognition technology to identify a person by comparing against pre-loaded pictures of the person in its database. The system can identify whether the person is an employee, visitor or stranger. Once a person is identified and the temperature scans normal, the system can then trigger the door access control system to admit the person into the facility.
In addition to facial recognition the device also supports user identification via RFID cards. With the optional built-in 125KHz RFID card reader, the device can read HID Proximity cards that are commonly issued by most companies. In addition to the optional built-in reader, the device can integrate with any other external card readers that support Weigand interface. When the temperature of a person is normal and the person is authenticated either through facial recognition or via the access card, the device can trigger a signal to the door access control system to grant entry.
The BIOS01 uses a German-made Heimann 32x32 thermopile sensor array that delivers accuracy temperature readings, +-0.5C / 0.9F, at a range of 1-3 feet and supports a temperature adjusting field to compensate for temperature variations.
The BIOS01 is available in two configurations depending on your specific use case and size of the organization.
i. The SMB (small medium business) model is ideal for small businesses that simply want to take temperature scans of anyone entering their facility. The unit is deployed stand alone without the need for any network connectivity. All management is done locally using the device management application that is on the device.
