Temperature Screening Kiosks for COVID-19 security

BIOS01 - Temperature Screening Kiosk with Attendance Management & Access Control

The BIOS01 is a temperature screening device using facial recognition or HID card-based attendance access control and temperature scanning kiosk for COVID-19security. BISO01 provides companies with an added  layer of security over the traditional card or biometric access control systems by combining access control with  temperature monitoring to detect and prevent access to facilities by potential  infected employees  and so keeping the workplace safe.

The unit is typically deployed on entry ways to building facilities  where visitors and staff are directed to the unit upon entry to check in and take a temperature scan for elevated body temperature.

The device sounds an alert when it detects elevated body temperature and sends alerts to the management staff via email or to the remote management application.

The device is managed by a remote management application which can be hosted on a PC on the network. The remote management application allows security staff to manage multiple devices from a central location including provisioning each device with specific user information for identification purpose.  Using the management software, security staff can register employees and visitors into the system, monitor alerts and activity and view reports.

Access or temperature alerts from the device are sent in real-time to the remote management application where they are displayed on the monitoring console for security staff to respond to the alerts and take appropriate action defined by the policies at their facility.

Specifications

Display

The device has a 8" high resolution non touch display that displays visual alerts to the user.

Temperature Measurement

The unit has an accurate high precision infrared thermal sensor (German Hiemann thermopile sensor) that can detect body temperature at an accuracy of +- 0.3C/0.54F at a range of 1-3 feet.

Facial Recognition

The unit supports dual cameras to perform sub-second facial recognition of the person in front of the camera. Personnel such as employees or visitors can be registered into the system using the remote management application.  This involves importing pictures from a file or taking a picture from the device camera. Once the pictures of the personnel is uploaded in the system along with the personnel information, the advanced facial recognition system then uses this informaiton to recognize people during regular operation.

Card based Authentication

In addition to facial recognition, users also have the option of choosing card based authentication for identification purposes. The device supports NFC Mifare for card access. Users who prefer to scan their id card can tap the card near the NFC reader for identification and access.  (HID Prox Card support is in the roadmap).

Companies may however, benefit in savings from using facial recognition entirely in lieu of card access as expenses related to card procurement and maintenance is no longer required.

Alerting

The system alerts the user when it either does not recognize the user or when it detects elevated body temperature.

Alerts can also be sent to a central monitoring system where security agents can immediate identify who has high temperature and accordingly take an action.

Alerts can be emailed to security staff or managers

Remote Management Software

The unit can be managed over the LAN remotely by the Remote Management Server (RMS) installed on a PC.  The RMS has powerful capabilities including managing multiple devices, attendance management, access control setting, temperature settings and reporting.  The RMS is ideal for large businesses and enterprises who wish to manage and monitor multiple devices spread out across various facilities.

Security and temperature alerts from the devices are sent to the RMS application in real-time which can be acted upon by security staff.

Integrations

The unit can be integrated with turnstiles and door locks to provide automated access. When a stranger is detected or a person is identified to have high temperature, the unit can block the persons access to the facility. The unit supports relay and Weigand interfaces for integration with external card access control systems and magnetic door locks.

Mounting & Installations

The unit is perfect for office buildings, factories, farms, educational institutes and any place where traditional access control systems are used to provide access to facilities.

Use case

Primarily to screen one person at a time at building access entry points such as turnstiles and gated entries and doors.  A typical use case would be for the user to walk up-to the system which may be deployed on a wall or floor stand or on a desk. The device can identify the user as a specific employee or a visitor using either facial recognition or an NFC access card. The device takes a temperature reading from the forehead area of the person using the thermal camera. High temperature alerts are displayed to the person along with audible alerts. The alerts are also sent to the remote management application where these can be viewed by security personnel on the console. Security personnel must follow up on the alert by isolating the person and take a more accurate manual reading with an FDA approved medical thermometer in order to fully qualify the person as having a fever or not.
